Little Red Shoe

Here is the little red shoe that held the bug that scared the mommy that caused a ruckus that left our house in a screaming mess!

Delaney was frozen with fear (the calmest she had been all day)...she didn't know what was going on.  Lexy and I were panicking about how we were going to get the bug out of the shoe to kill it.  To say the least, the bug is still in the closet.  We turned out the lights and ran in hopes that daddy, our hero, would be home to kill it soon!

So, I had a doctor's appt. in Gadsden and went shopping...I guess for just some mommy time.  I bought the girls matching shirts from old navy and I was showing the shirts to them when I picked them up.  Lexy says, "What else did you get me?"  I told her nothing...I ran out of money.  Her response?  "You should have just used DADDY'S MONEY!"  (laughing)

Lexy, You are Amazing...An Ode to You!

Child, you are too smart.  Your favorite thing to do in the car is play one of the following three: eye spy, "the sound game" which is where one of us calls out a letter or sound and the other one has to name three words the begin with that sound, or the "chop it up" game where we call out a word and the other "segments" the word.  Girl, you are naming like 5 and 6 sounds in some words and segmenting the blends.  A-maz-ing!  Just so I"ll remember this some of the words you have "chopped" are: w-a-ter-m-el-on, s-n-ow, l-e-m-on, p-ar-a-d-i-se...etc.  And, the words you tell me to chop up...emperor? paradise?  What are you watchin'?   Barney?  Uh-huh.  Pre-K...WATCH OUT!

The Night the Lights Went Out in Horton

Bad Storms predicted...check.  Bad storms come...check.  Power outage...CHECK.  When the wind blows, our power is out pretty much.  Power goes out around 8:00 and 15 minutes in...my undiagnosed ADD kicks in.  It's dark, one candle...hmmmhmmm...it's Scenty's fault...nothing to do.  This is what goes down....Lexy performs on the "stage" fireplace singing Mary Had a Little Lamb and then her own made up songs about everything she sees in the room.  Make shadow puppets.  Look at almost every pic in my iphoto library.  We sing half of Heidi's ABC songs...Delaney's knows the songs A-D pretty well....so very cute.  THEN....OH YEAH...I break out the high school cheerleader band dances and "perform" them right there in my living room.  So. Much. Fun!  Cadance.  Tequila.  Hey Baby (what I could remember of it).  Fight Song.  Yeah, I still got it...HA.

Just the Two of Us

After picking Lex up from a 2 night stay at Nanna and Popoo's house, it was time for "just us" time...plus Delaney needed to nap so we played outside, just the two of us.  She rode her big girl bike, blew bubbles, and the most fun thing was making art with "chalk walk" in a 4 year old's words.  Check out these beautiful pics.  She copied me with oral directions and a sample on all of these except the flower, I copied her on the flower.  Look closely at the pictures...not sure how great they'll show up on the concrete.

Fun with One

Lexy spent the night with Nanna and Popoo the last two nights, so this morning we just played outside with Delaney.  I think she liked the fact the she got ALL the attention.  Here are some photos of our fun.  This was the first time she kicked a ball (daddy says she has kicked inside the house before) outside.  She also was picking flowers (weeds, rather) for us...so sweet!  How do kids know that they should pick things and give it to their parents?  We also tried teaching her how to actually use the pedals on the bicycle, but that was a bit too hard.  Enjoy!

Sisterly Love

These kind of moments are the ones I live for.  I put them in the car to go to Nanna and PawPaw's while I go to work and they just held hands almost the whole way.  How cute.  I hope they love each other like that FOREVER!  Smile.

Oh, Delaney Girl!

Okay, so Delaney's new favorite thing to do when she wakes up is to undress herself.  For the past week or more, when we get her out of her bed, she is completely "in the buff"!  I hope to snap a pic of it and add it to this post. (I got her with the diaper almost off, but her pants still on....how'd she do that?)

Yeah, and her other new thing is sticking out her tongue while shaking her head and hips when she gets in trouble.  Hmmmm....wonder where she learned that from??

Oh, the Joys of 4 year Olds!

So, everyone says that 4 year olds are worse than terrible two's.  Didn't quite believe them, even though we didn't experience a lot of the terrible two's, but boy do I now.  For some odd reason, Lexy thinks she owns and run the place...and has a whole lot of attitude with it.  So, late last night, Richey and I decided to come up with a plan for putting a stop (or at least reduce) to the madness.  We threw around some ideas and came up with a chart for inappropriate behaviors and a sticker chart for good behaviors.  I'll post pictures when it's ready and let you know how it works!
